Hi all, I hope you are having a great Summer, and that life is good. In June, we had a fantastic visit from the wonderful Josh from Allsorts, who did a fun quiz with our students! Allsorts Youth Project listens to, connects & supports children & young people under 26 who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or exploring their sexual orientation and/or gender identity (LGBT+) and their families.
In line with it being Pride month, the LGBTQIA+ organisation was very welcome to help us learn how to support the LGBTQIA+ community and be more inclusive.
Josh highlighted so many important and relevant issues that young people who are LGBTQIA+ are facing. Josh also shared some great ideas and support mechanisms that we can use to help our peers, families and even society be empathic, understanding and progressive in terms of accepting and celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community.
The clear message Josh gave us all was to ‘be an ally’ in terms of how best we can support the LGBTQIA+ community. This was something we all took away and can put in place. Big shout out to Josh - thank you so much!
