From the 4th of August, asphaleia training has been busy with students attending our summer study programme.

The summer study programme is a 4-week programme for 16–18-year-olds wishing to continue their English and maths studies throughout the summer. It is ideal for those wanting help to prepare for their next steps into further education or work, or for those with English as a second language.

asphaleia is looking after a flowerbed as part of the seafront flowerbed initiative by Worthing Town Centre BID. In between classes, some of our students accompanied their tutor down to the beach to plant fresh flowers.

summer study programme English lessons

Our Service Coordinator popped in to an English lesson last week! The lesson topic was 'Going to the shops' and the tutor first introduced the key phrases and vocabulary. Then encouraged students to complete the blanks in the sentences adding in other vocabulary they knew.

Whiteboard with handwritten sentences about shopping and preferences. Contains black and blue text, and a crossed-out milk carton drawing.

They were also introduced to other situational language they might come across whilst shopping, such as a sign that read: NO Drinking in the Shop.

progressing with qualifications

It may be sunny outside but our students have been knuckling down and getting on with their English and maths exams, enabling them to make progress in their learning and continue working towards their next steps in education.

Well done everyone!
