students explore creative photography

At asphaleia training, we offer employability programmes and ESOL to enable young people aged 16-24 to prepare for work and obtain their functional skills English and maths qualifications.

We include creative workshops in our programmes to help students develop wider skills and also to support their wellbeing.

Recently, students took part in a photography workshop where they spent time researching various creative photography techniques and then visited the seafront to practice using these techniques.

They used reflections, silhouettes, framing and repetition and were set a task to take photos using each of these techniques.

Students loved getting out of the classroom and taking in the sea views and experimenting with their iphone cameras!

After we got back we spent some time looking at how we can edit photos to make them sharper and brighter to bring them to life! The two below show the impact of the students' editing.
