Across 2025, we’re celebrating 25 years of asphaleia through many activities and through stories on our blog. This story features an interview with a member of staff who has worked at asphaleia previously, and continues to support the organisation through their current work.

Text reads "looking back & celebrating." Logo shows "asphaleia 25 years" in colorful letters on a gray and black background.

  1. How long did you work or have you worked for asphaleia and what role/s have you done?

I worked for asphaleia for around three years as a finance administrator and as a care worker in the houses over covid.

  1. How did you end up working for asphaleia?

I applied for a job after seeing an advert, I had just finished studying bookkeeping and it was my first role after completing my course.

  1. What, in your view, is asphaleia all about?

asphaleia is a supportive space for young people through care (supported housing), fostering and education.

  1. Do you have any significant memories/stories from over the years?

The main memory I have is of my colleagues that I worked with in reception and fostering. Not one specific story but always knowing they were a friendly face and a supportive colleague.

  1. What makes asphaleia a great place to work?

Its mission was at the heart of everything people did. People believed in the work.

  1. How has working at asphaleia impacted you?

It was my first role working in a place that wasn't all about profit. It showed me that there was a model of shared business and non-profit that could be sustainable and work to give something back that was good.
