An investment in knowledge pays the best interest -Benjamin Franklin
During the first week of October, asphaleia staff took part in our annual Learning and Development Week. To make L&D Week completely accessible to all staff, it comprises five email bulletins, with one sent each day throughout the week. This year, we added an audio recording of the bulletin content to each email.
L&D week is an opportunity for staff to explore different topics and training that will support them to develop further in their roles. The theme this year was Young People and Their Worlds.
Through daily bulletins, staff received material related to the theme, which included the following topics:
Who are the children and young people we work with
Health, Wellbeing & Safeguarding of CYP
Youth employment and education
The Rights of a child
Digital wellbeing and use of technology
Alongside the materials, staff were asked to complete some online training related to this year’s topics – supporting children and young people’s wellbeing from Open University. Additionally, staff were sent a case study regarding mental health and safeguarding to reflect on and enhance their practice.
We also enjoyed watching a range of videos including one where we heard from our young people, who shared about their happy places and future worries. As well as a TEDx talk by a young person about the influence of social media on mental health.
