what is it?

On Track 2 Work is an education programme for 16-18 year olds wishing to prepare for their next steps into further study or work. It offers recognised qualifications in English, maths and employability, as well as careers planning and workplace experiences. Young people will develop essential skills for employment, including confidence building, problem-solving, collaboration and communication.

 

The programme runs from September to July every year, with opportunities to start throughout the year.

who is it for and where is it delivered?

On Track 2 Work is for 16 – 18 year olds who don’t yet have 5 GCSEs at level 4 or above and who wish to study in small groups in a supportive environment.

 

You could be eligible to join our On Track 2 Work programme if you:

​

  • Are 16-18 years-old (16-24 if you have an EHCP)

  • Live in West Sussex

  • Are not currently studying at college

  • Are not working, or if you are working part-time

  • Have not yet achieved 5 or more GCSEs at level 4 or above

​

On Track 2 Work is run at our dedicated training centre in Worthing town centre. 

programme content

On Track 2 Work includes:

​

  • Accredited qualifications in English, Maths and Employability up to level 2

  • Full-time programmes of study; part-time programmes available if you work 16 hours+

  • Real-life experiences of work, involving work tasters, workplace visits and work placements

  • Next steps planning, 1:1 careers guidance and info/advice/support to prepare for progressing to Apprenticeships or higher level study at college.

  • Pastoral and enrichment activities, such as breakfast and lunch clubs, holiday programmes, sports, wellbeing workshops and drop-ins

  • Community participation and student voice opportunities, e.g. community projects, student forums and Young People Ambassador scheme

 

At the end of the programme, students can expect to progress into:

 

  • Higher level study at college

  • Apprenticeship in their chosen career

  • First job with a local employer
