what is on track equip?
On Track Equip is an education programme for 16-18 year olds wishing to increase their independence and personal skills to prepare for their next steps into adulthood, work and society.
It offers recognised qualifications in English, maths and personal/social development, as well as community activities, careers planning and workplace experiences.
Students will develop essential skills for life and work, including English, numeracy, confidence building, resilience, interpersonal skills, active citizenship and understanding how to stay safe and be healthy.
The programme runs from September to July every year, with opportunities to start throughout the year.
who is it for and where is it delivered?
On Track Equip is for 16 – 18 year olds who don’t yet have 5 GCSEs at level 4 or above, who are seeking to become more independent in life and learning and preparing to move towards work.
You could be eligible to join our On Track Equip programme if you:

Are 16-18 years-old (16-24 if you have an EHCP)
-
Live in West Sussex
-
Are not currently studying at college
-
Are not working, or if you are working part-time
-
Have not yet achieved 5 or more GCSEs at level 4 or above
-
Are capable of studying English and maths at Entry Level 3 or above (based on prior qualifications and assessment during enrolment)

On Track Equip is run at our dedicated training centre in Worthing town centre and includes some off-site activities in the local community.

programme content
On Track Equip includes:

Accredited qualifications in English, Maths and Personal/Social Development at entry level 3 to level 1

Full-time programmes of study; part-time programmes available if you work 16 hours+

Life and living skills to help you live independently, stay safe and healthy and connect with your community

Real-life supported experiences of work, including workplace visits and guest speakers

Next steps planning, 1:1 careers guidance and info/advice/support to prepare for progressing into work or higher level study.

Pastoral and enrichment activities, such as student clubs, holiday programmes, sports, wellbeing workshops and drop-ins

Community participation and student voice opportunities, e.g. community projects, student forums and Young People Ambassador scheme
At the end of the programme, students can expect to progress into:
