wellbeing with sally; 5 ways to boost your wellbeing

Hope you are all well now that the nights are drawing in, it’s getting colder and we’re heading towards Christmas.

It’s that time of year when it’s important to keep our wellbeing in check. Winter can be a time when emotions hit us hard and we don't have the sunlight and as much vitamin D that we had in brighter months, which can have an impact.

So, for November's Wellbeing With Sally, let’s look at the five ways to wellbeing that can be a good focus this time of the year.

1. Connect – Connecting with family, friends, colleagues, school and college mates can help enrich our lives and can also provide us with valuable support. Try putting time aside to connect with these groups of people. It will be so helpful for all involved.

2. Be active – get up and go! This doesn’t mean you have to do a 5/10K every weekend! But going for a nice stroll or jog, a dance work-out or cycling etc…can help give us a lift and keep our wellbeing intact.

3. Take note and be interested – watch out for things that are eye-catching and unusual - like the changes in nature and seasons. Look for the positives in the things you see. Reflecting on our daily blessings can help us appreciate the things we have in life.

4. Keep learning things you are interested in – either start something new that takes your fancy or develop something that is an old interest. Feeling part of a team, class, group or even the wider community can help with self esteem and be lots of fun!

5. Give your time – do something nice for someone, it doesn’t have to be anything big, just helping someone or supporting them when they need it. Volunteering your time and helping in the community can also do wonders for others and can help us feel super connected.

So give some or all of these a go, do things that will help keep you feeling well, connected, happy and alive! And enjoy doing them.

Best wishes, Sally
