week 2 of our summer programme; 'get creative'

Week 2 of asphaleia’s summer programme was themed as ‘Get Creative!’

We have seen some exceptional artwork made from our young people, including stone painting, papier mache, salt dough and T-shirt customisation.

Students painted the flags of their home countries, inspirational quotes such as ‘smile!’ the entire alphabet, as well as football teams and names of their favourite artists.

The main event of week 2 was a photography trip to Brighton, where students were tasked with taking pictures of graffiti as they wandered through the lanes, along with more specific tasks such as take a picture of something that makes you smile.

The walk ended at the Jungle Rumble mini golf, where teams tried their luck at an eighteen-hole course. Students also took their teachers to their favourite Brighton eateries, where staff enjoyed eating Kurdish food.

It was a fun and messy week, with paint, glue and photographs. A big thank you to all of the students for trying new things, being patient with artwork and for proving themselves as such creatively talented learners.
