This week, our careers advisor and a tutor took two groups of students to The Sid Youth Employability Hub in Worthing as part of the careers education aspect of their programmes.
The SID Youth team member who delivered both sessions provided students with valuable information about employability, including how to create effective CVs and cover letters. They explained the importance of having a well-prepared CV when applying for both paid employment and voluntary roles, highlighting how volunteering can help students develop valuable skills and gain experience for future employment. This was a great follow on from the employability session delivered by our tutor and careers advisor together prior to the visit.
The Youth Hub also offers a range of onsite training opportunities where students can achieve recognised certificates. One example is the Food Hygiene course, where students also have the opportunity to develop practical cooking skills using food donated by local supermarket chains.

The visit gave students an excellent insight into the support and opportunities available through The Sid Youth Employability Hub. The students were particularly interested in the employability, volunteering, and wellbeing services on offer, and several students expressed an interest in accessing further support.
The students all enjoyed taking some of their merchandise too, which included keychains, frisbees, lip balm, hand sanitiser, and phone chargers!
