  • mothers and babies support

asphaleia provides both outreach and accommodation support to mums or those who are pregnant aged 16 - 24. These placements are often made available for mums who are looked after children in some respect, whether they have been in foster care, are an asylum seeker or have been highlighted as being at risk by Social Services and needing extra support.

asphaleia care can offer accommodation specific to them and their children which provides a safe and nurturing environment. These placements are offered in line with current health and safety policy with regard to mother and baby placements and offer specific and necessary equipment needed to nurture a baby safely. All staff are trained and implement a system of developing the mother to become a successful parent.

care outreach workers are involved in visiting the properties on a regular basis and ensuring the mums and their children are living in a safe environment. Some mothers experience difficulties raising their child and care provide a support network around them. Young mothers receive guidance and support to be able to look after themselves and their children. The staff work with a range of other professionals top offer a joined-up approach and comprehensive package of support. Child development issues are also raised with each young mother, including how each mum could bring this into their homes.

Each mother has unique needs and care outreach workers feed back to the social worker about their ongoing support needs.

  • asylum seeker service

asphaleia care has over 10 years experience providing specialist support to young asylum seekers in West Sussex, West London and Kent. In addition to our outreach service, we are also able to offer advice and guidance for those going through the asylum process, accommodation and access to their peers.

We also provide them with independent living skills, access to education through other asphaleia programmes and valuable 1-1 support, to support them with adjusting to life in the UK.

Our mother and baby support and accommodation service is also available to asylum seekers. The team takes into consideration heritage, culture and faith when supporting girls through this phase of their life. We appreciate the different needs of asylum seekers and adapt our services as needed, to meet these needs.
